Am I Creative enough? Yes, you are!
Sometimes when we hear someone is Creative we think about them as some weirdo. Like “Ah, he’s creating some strange things or acting differently”. Those people trigger us. We don’t like them, cause we see our lost creative side in every artist and creative person we meet.
You see, our society worked hard to program us to be the same (walk, talk, and live like everybody else). When we are the same it’s so much easier to manipulate and rule the crowd. “Be like everyone else” they said. Don’t be different. Don’t show up.
Do you remember yourself as 5 years old? Did you care what other people were thinking of you? Did you want to do things that other people were doing? I bet you didn’t! As kids we wanted to create something special, something unique, we wanted to wear clothes nobody wears, to invent something nobody invented before. Until they said that ‘we can’t.
There’s a great saying about the best inventions on the planet: “People invented great things because they didn’t know it was impossible”.
Can you go back to your childhood and try to remember the moment when adults told you your dreams and desires were ‘impossible”?
If you can connect to this inner child, you can connect to your creative side and remember what you used to love when you were a kid. This is your real desire and talent. This is what Source put within you. Those are the talents and gifts you came to reveal to this planet.
Do a simple exercise. Try to remember 3-4 activities that you used to love to do when you were a kid. Was it drawing or dancing, playing football, or climbing the trees? Remember the feeling, the joy. Sink into this feeling. Then think about how often you do those activities in your daily life.
As adults, we go so deep into the thing we should or need to do, that we completely forgot what used to bring us joy. We create our ‘to-do’ lists based on necessity and not our soul desires. And then we are wondering “Why do I feel so bad? I’ve got everything people are supposed to have”.
Try to analyze your “adult” day, create a 2 columns list with activities that are draining your energy during the day and activities that are bringing you energy. Compare the columns. In the “Draining energy” column you might find your work, your environment, behaviors of the family members, financial pressure, debts, etc. Usually, this draining column is so much longer than the Positive one.
Are you shocked the same way I was when creating that list?
Does your Positivity column look 3 times shorter than the Draining one?
I will give you a hint. If the Positive column is too short and your brain is jumping in an attempt to remember what positive things to include in the list – go back to your childhood and think about the things you loved to do when you were 5-7 years old. Remember and try to add them to your daily schedule.
It doesn’t mean that you should go all bananas (though you are allowed) and crash your daily routine completely. All you can do is implement some joyful moments into the schedule you already have. It could look like 10 minutes of dancing, or 5 minutes of singing while you are cooking, drawing a quick sketch during lunchtime. You decide.
When you connect to your creative side – you connect to the Source. Cause the Source itself is a Creator. When people forbid you to create, they are closing you from your God essence.
Are you ready to open up your soul to all the Creative things in your life? Go for it, you can do it.
